En Chemin
Assemblage 10 villages – 3 cépages (Chardonnay 42%, Meunier 42%, Pinot Noir 16%) – 2 ans de vieillissement
93/100 James Suckling :
« A self-confidently dry Champagne with plenty of Asian pears, raspberries and chalky minerality on the finely etched, medium-bodied palate. Long, very clean finish, with a delicate mousse accentuating the spring-like freshness. A cuvee of 42% chardonnay, 42% pinot meunier and 16% pinot noir, Drink now. » (Stuart Pigott)
17/20 Jancis Robinson :
« Slightly toasty smell, a bit like grilled lemons and pan-roasted fennel seeds. Then apple blossom. A beautifully curved, succulent champagne that retained its precision and shape even after it had warmed to room temperature. Lemon curd, fresh yuzu, bergamot and crispy crunchy juicy apples. A loose lacework of bubbles. Delicious. You could gulp great draughts of this thirst-quenching wine. » (Tamlyn Currin)
Heureuse Rencontre
Assemblage de 2 terroirs – 3 cépages (Meunier, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir) – 5 ans de vieillissement
93/100 James Suckling :
« Rich and creamy on the generous, medium-bodied palate, with fresh apple and Asian pear flavors, this has a delicate mousse that keeps it fresh in the long, polished finish. A cuvee of 57% pinot meunier, 33% chardonnay and 10% pinot noir from vineyards in the northern and southern Marne. Drink now. » (Stuart Pigott)
17/20 Jancis Robinson :
« Another beautiful watercolour label on the bottle and another beautiful wine inside the bottle from the thoughtful Duponts. They seem to have a gift for drawing the most remarkable perfume from their vines, somehow allowing their terroirs to shine through, despite very long periods on lees in bottle. Heureuse Rencontre smells like a late spring morning, like an orchard in blossom, almost achingly fresh and alive – I’m sure I can hear the bees busy in and out of white and pink clouds of blossom. It has the mouth-wateringly sweet bite of russet apples and the golden honeyed notes of tiny mirabelles. The tiny bubbles feel like tiny diamonds stitched into satin. Delicate and yet bursting with personality and life and light-filled energy. » (Tamlyn Currin)
Frisson Blanc
Cuvée parcellaire, village de Vert-Toulon – 100% Chardonnay – 4 années de vieillissement
93/100 James Suckling :
« This very fresh, barely medium-bodied Champagne has yellow and green apple aromas with a touch of pears. Excellent interplay of restrained leesy creaminess with animating mousse and crisp acidity. A pure chardonnay from Vert-Toulon. Drink now. » (Stuart Pigott)
17,5/20 Jancis Robinson :
« The labels of these Dupont champagnes, very delicate exquisitely detailed watercolours, are truly beautiful. I want to hang them on my wall! The nose is really intense, a fan of perfume refracting to bright, white citrus. And on the palate, a chiastic change, as if the wine is drawing in a linear shaft of bright, white light and refracting it into a dazzling dance and scatter of flowers and pink grapefruit pith, quinine and rock salt. Mouth-watering density and concentration in almost direct contrast to its fine-boned, translucent purity. Intellectual wine. » (Tamlyn Currin)
Instant
Village de Brimont (Massif de Saint-Thierry, au Nord de Reims) – Meunier 85% et Pinot Noir 15% – 3 ans de vieillissement
92/100 James Suckling :
« This well-rounded, medium-bodied Champagne has a wide range of aromas, from dried pears to pomelo and red currants, with good leesy complexity. Long, crisp and stony finish with a lively mousse. A limited-edition cuvee of 85% pinot meunier and 15% pinot noir from the Massif de Saint-Thierry. Drink now. » (Stuart Pigott)
17,5/20 Jancis Robinson :
« Absolutely remarkable perfume on the nose. I found myself holding the glass to my nose again and again without tasting it. Hard to describe. Like frangipani flowers and marmalade and apple blossom, maybe. And then, tasting it, the wine led with its texture, giving me alabaster and fine-ground chalk before a soft hiss of the tiniest bubbles, like the last lace of a wave as it washes up on a sandy beach. Nectarine sweetness, fragrant bitterness like the peel of a Seville orange, a touch of apricot and cooked pear. Rich yet without an ounce of fat. A long, attention-demanding finish. This is beautiful. » (Tamlyn Currin)
